Abstract:Objective To construct a scientific, reasonable and practical evaluation system for the professional quality of coders, and to provide reference for the talent construction, training and evaluation of Chinese coding team. Methods The evaIuation index system for professional quality of coders was determined by literature research method and expert scoring method, and the weights of each index were calculated by analytic hierarchy process. Results The professional quality evaluation system of coders have 2 first-level indicators, 6 second-level indicators and 47 thirdlevel indicators. The top three thirdlevel indicators combination weights are "the mastery degree of disease physiology, clinical manifestations, surgical procedure, anatomy knowledge"(0.049 7), "keep on learning new code structure and the classification rules"(0.045 9), and "the ability of summarizing and drawing inferences " (0.039 9). Conclusion In this study, a professional quality evaluation system of coders was constructed, which provided a reference basis for the cultivation and evaluation of coders. However, further empirical research was still needed for continuous improvement.
