Abstract：Objective In order to improve the accuracy of the coding,this paper summarizes the disease coding problems and the coding undersdandings.Methods Through the error rate of coding in a hospital in 2017 and specific coding examples, we illustrated several elements in the understanding of coding.Results The coding understandings include the principle of embodying the main coding of diseases and the cause of the diseases, the principle of combining coding that reflects the intrinsic link between diseases, and the principle of not relying on the medical record home page information and computer dictionary library.Conclusion The rate of coding errors in the hospital is high,and in order to improve the accuracy of the coding, the coders should master the pinciples of coding, and need to read and analyze the medical records carefully, ask for clinical advice, find medical data from various ways to get the closest clinical codes, and continuously improve the coding level.
