Abstract:The first page of inpatient medical record is a kind of big medical data with high data quality, and it has great value of data mining. However, the domestic use of the first page of inpatient medical records mainly stays in the simple data statistics summary. The structure and content of National Inpatient Patient Sample (NIS) of the United States are very similar to those of the first page of inpatient medical records in China, and in many studies information of NIS is used to analyze the prognostic factors of many diseases. This paper aimed to conduct a survey of the NIS-based studies on the prognostic factors of cerebrovascular disease, including patients’ demographic characteristics, comorbidities, receiving surgery and other related factors. It is expected to provide helpful advice for the studies based on the first page of inpatient medical records in China.
