Abstract：Objective To understand the development status of hospital statistics and ability to adapt to big data background, and to develop the hospital statistics development plan. Methods Network questionnaires were used toinvestigate some medical institutions in Sichuan Province. Results The Statistical Department of the hospital belonged to the same department with other functional departments, and itwas equipped with about 5 people on average, among which 26.2% were staff with bachelor′s degree, most of whom were graduates of statistics or health management. Most of them had no or little ability to use statistical data analysis and mining tools. Conclusion There is still a big gap between the statistical analysis ability of hospital statistical departments and the background requirements of big data. The transformation of thinking, the establishment of statistical index system and the comprehensive statistical analysis and visualization should be the key points in the development of hospital statistical work.
