Abstract:objective To investigate the correlation between social support and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in surgical inpatients, and to understand the role of positive emotions such as hope, optimism and selfefficacy in the incidence of PTSD.Methods The demographic data, social support and the incidence of post traumatic stress disorder in 200 inpatients were collected.Results Totally 197 questionnaires were collected from 200 questionnaires, and the recovery rate was 98.5%. Among the 197 patients, 22 cases had PTSD, and the incidence rate was 11.2%. The average score was (30.9 +10.4). There was a positive correlation between social support and hope, optimism and selfefficacy (r=0.301, r=0.367, r=0.318, P<0.05), and a negative correlation between social support and PTSD (r=-0.227, P<0.05).Conclusion Social support has a good preventive effect on the occurrence of PTSD in hospitalized patients. Optimism, hope and selfefficacy are the important guarantees for patients to prevent PTSD.
