Abstract：Objective To analyze the hospitalized death cases in a tertiary hospital in Anhui province, to identify case fatality rate, gender composition, age distribution, and death sequence, so as to provide references for the hospital management. Methods The first pages of the medical records of the patients who died in the hospital from 2009 to 2019 were collected, and the international statistical classification ICD-10 was used to classify the discharge diagnoses, in order to clarify the mortality rate, death distribution and death sequence in the hospital, and Chisquare test was used to analyze and compare the data. Results From 2009 to 2019, the inpatient mortality rate of the hospital was 0.72%, which remained the same as that of the previous year in 2014 and slightly increased in 2015. The overall trend of mortality was decreasing year by year. The female mortality rate was significantly lower than that of the male, and the number of deaths in the age group ≥80 years old was the largest. The top three causes of death were malignant tumors, respiratory system diseases and circulatory system diseases. Conclusion To improve the health awareness and health literacy of the elderly and men, medical institutions need to strengthen the construction of oncology, respiratory medicine and other disciplines, improve the level of medical services, and reduce the case fatality rate.
