Abstract:Objective To explore the high risk factors of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI), then to provide basis for preventing CAUTI. Methods We retrospectively collected 348 cases of urinary surgery patients, and they were divided into infection group (n=82) and non-infection group (n=266) according to the incidence of CAUTI. With case-control study method, the correlated risk factors of CAUTI were analyzed by single and multiple factors analysis methods. Results The incidence rate of CAUTI was 23.6% (82/348). Multiple factors analysis result showed that the factors of age (OR=2.939), complication of diabetes (OR=3.473), days of catheter a demeure (OR=2.392) and hypoproteinemia (OR=2.014) were the risk factors of CAUTI, but use of antibiotics before operation (OR=0.572) was the protective factor of CAUTI. Conclusion The incidence rate of CAUTI in the patients of urinary surgery lies in a high rate. The high risk factors of CAUTI include old age, complication of diabetes, days of catheter a demeure, hypoproteinemia and without use of antibiotics before operation. We should adopt intervention measures to aim directly at these high risk factors.
