Abstract Objective Statistical analysis is the key point to scientific research, so here we evolved an examination and verification process to avoid the common statistical error, thereby to enhance the standard of hospital research. Methods The technical work reports of scientific research subjects at all levels that have been completed in two tertiary hospitals in Jinan from 2015 to 2017 were selected as the research objects. One hundred and twenty research reports were selected after inclusion and exclusion criteria were set, and were reviewed by professional statisticians. The statistical errors found were analyzed with Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Results There were 4 types of statistical errors in scientific research projects at all levels, among which the incidence of statistical errors in national research projects was lower than that in municipal research projects, and the difference was statistically significant. Among all kinds of statistical errors, the errors of incomplete statistical analysis conclusions were the most, followed by the errors of sampling methods and testing methods. Conclusion Lack of statist participates and no statistical examination and verification during the study are the main reasons for the high statistical error incidence in hospital study. Thereby, it is necessary to improve the involvement and audit of the statisticians of the research project and improve the overall level of the research project.
