Abstract This paper reviews the main achievements of the development of health care in recent 10 years and the challenges of health care work at present, and provides information support for implementing the healthy China strategy and deepening the reform of medical and health care system. The analysis shows that the health level of Chinese people has been improved significantly, ranking among middle income countries. The national health insurance system has been improved and the level of security has been improved. The health service system continued to be improved, and the accessibility, quality and satisfaction of residents of the medical and health services increased significantly. We have been making orderly progress in making it available to the public, and effectively ensuring the development of health programs. With the development of social economy, the current health work is also facing the challenges of unbalanced and insufficient development, the unestablished human-oriented integrated service system, the aging of population, and the increasing burden of chronic diseases.
