Abstract In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the clinical use of implantable cardiac electronic devices. These devices consist mainly of electronic components such as pulse generators and electrode leads, encompassing artificial cardiac pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. This article focuses on the clinical understanding of cardiac pacing and defibrillation technology, providing an analysis of the operational proce dures. It adheres to the classification principles of ICD-9-CM-3 for organizing and summarizing corresponding codes, offering a valuable reference for coding work. Coding personnel are required to maintain a thorough grasp of the latest clinical technological advancements, adhere to the principles of surgical classification, and diligently review medical records to ensure accurate coding and comprehensive representation of medical information.
