Abstract Objective To apply Excel software to the direct report of infectious diseases in a tertiary hospital to improve the report quality.Methods The advanced query function, Vlookup function, IF function, Len function and subtraction formula of Excel were used to screen infectious diseases of outpatients and inpatients of omission, avoid repetitive query before online direct report and check after online direct report.Results It greatly improves the working efficiency of direct reports on the internet, ensures the quality of reports, and avoids the delayed reporting of infectious diseases.Conclusion Excel software can be fully applied to many links of the direct reports of infectious diseases. Reporters of epidemic diseases in tertiary hospitals should strengthen their study on the Excel software and improve the work efficiency.
