Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of age and drinking on damage mode and severity of electric vehicle accidents to optimize their surgical diagnosis and treatment. Methods A retrospective observational study was performed on 620 adult patients who were admitted to hospital because of electric vehicle accident.According to blood alcohol concentration, all pateints were divided into drinking group and awake group.Their damage mode and severity were analyzed separately. Results The elderly group was more susceptible to limb injury and multiple injuries. Compared with the awake group, the drinking group was prone to head and face injury, and the severity of injury was higher. At the same time, the patients of drinking group were younger. Conclusion In the electric vehicle accidents, the damage mode of the young and middle-aged group and the elderly group was different. The limb injury and multiple injuries were more likely to occur in the elderly group, and the limb injuries were more serious. In addition, drinking alcohol could affect the damage mode of electric vehicle accidents, and increase the risk of head and face injuries.
