| Study on the cognition of osteoporosis and healthy behaviors of postmenopausal women in Muping District |

Abstract Objective To study the cognition of osteoporosis and health behaviors of postmenopausal women so as to provide reference for the prevention of osteoporosis.Methods Two hundred postmenopausal women over 45 years old in Muping District were selected by stratified sampling method.Questionnaires were used to investigate the cognition, healthy behavior and preventive attitude.Results Totally 195 valid questionnaires were recovered.Only 20.5% of postmenopausal women knew the main cause of osteoporosis,and only 15.9% of postmenopausal women had regular bone mineral density.There were statistical differences in osteoporosis cognition and osteoporosis related health behaviors among postmenopausal women with different monthly income and cultural level (P＜0.05),postmenopausal women with higher monthly income had higher cognitive level and more relevant healthy behaviors,and those with higher education had higher cognitive level.There were statistical differences in health behaviors related to osteoporosis among different profession (P＜0.001).Conclusion The cognition and knowledge of postmenopausal women in Muping District is relatively insufficient, and the proportion of health behaviors is relatively low. In view of the problems in the investigation, relevant government departments should strengthen the prevention of osteoporosis and give full play to the role of mass media in the prevention of osteoporosis.
