Comparison of ginsenosides from Panaxquinquefolium L. by two different extraction methods |

Abstract Objective To select the best extraction method of ginsenosides in Panaxquinquefolium L. Methods Methanol ultrasonic method and N-butanol reflux method were used to optimize the best extraction method of Ginsenosides. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was established to determine the content of ginsenosides. Results The average content of Rg1 and Re extracted by ultrasonication of methanol is significantly higher than that of n-butanol reflux extraction(P<0.05); while the average content of Rb1 extracted by ultrasonication of methanol is significantly lower extracted by n-butanol reflux extraction(P<0.05).There is no significant difference between the average content of Rc and Rd within the two methods. The content of Rg1 extracted by methanol is higher than that of n-butanol extraction. Methodological investigation showed the best that the inter-day precision and the average recovery rate of Rg1, Re, Rb1, Rc and Rd. Conclusion Rg1 and Re extracted by methanol ultrasonication are significant higher than n-butanol reflux extraction. While, Rb1 extracted by methanol ultrasonicationis significant lower than n-butanol reflux extraction. Thus, the optimal method for ginsenosides extraction of American ginseng should be chosen by different ginsenosides component.
