A method for establishment of experimental periodontitis model in SD rats |

Abstract Objective To establish an animal model of rat periodontitis by optimization method and observe the degree of alveolar bone resorption in animal models of periodontitis.Methods The maxillary second molars of the rats in the periodontitis group were ligated with silk. During the modeling period, the periodontal condition of the rats was observed. The alveolar bone resorption was detected by imaging. The alveolar bone resorption was measured by stereo microscope. The relative expression levels of TNF-α and MMP-8 mRNA in gingival tissues were detected by RT-qPCR.Results In the experimental group, the periodontal tissue inflammation of the maxillary second molars gradually increased, the alveolar bone absorption increased, and the looseness gradually increased. The relative expression of TNF-α and MMP-8 mRNA in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group. Conclusion The animal model of SD rat periodontitis was successfully established by optimizing the modeling method.
