| Research on extraction method optimization and content determination of engeletin in Smilax glabra Roxb |

Abstract Objective To optimize the extraction method of engeletin from Smilax glabra Roxb and compare the differences of the content of engeletin from different regions. Methods Taking the content of engeletin as evaluation index. The content of engeletin was determined by HPLC. 70%, 80%, and 95% ethanol were used as solvent. Reflux extraction, ultrasound-associated extraction, percolation extraction were used as extraction methods. Results The content of engeletin in Smilax glabra Roxb from Vietnam was 0.0575% and it is the highest one of all tested samples. Conclusion The content of engeletin in Smilax glabra from Vietnam was higher than the others. The best extraction method has high extraction efficiency and low power consumes.
