Applied anatomy foundation of the I-shaped memory alloy vertebroplasty frame for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture |

Abstract Objective To explore anatomic features of T10~L2 vertebraes, and provide parameters for the development of the I-shaped memory alloy vertebroplasty frame (IMAV) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF).Methods Twenty sets of thoracic lumbar spine specimens (T10~L2) of Chinese normal adults were used to measure the anatomic parameters. IMAVF was designed according to the parameters.Results As L1 for example:Transverse diameter of the pedicle was about (6.52±1.33) mm,longitudinal diameter of the pedicle was (13.46±2.37) mm,sagittal diameter of the vertebral body was (32.64±2.38) mm, respectively.IMAVF was composed of a I-shaped body and two deformable wings at up and down,including large, medium and small types.Conclusion The designation of IMAVF is feasible anatomically,and it is safe and easy to treat osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.
