| Chalazion curettage combined with the Meibomian glands squeezing to prevent recurrence of chalazion in children |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of chalazion curettage combined with the Meibomian glands squeezing to prevent recurrence of chalazion in children.Methods Totally 178 cases of chalazion in children treated in our department from January 2015 to December 2017 were randomly divided into 83 cases of chalazion curettage group and 95 cases of chalazion curettage combined with the Meibomian glands squeezing group.The recurrent chalazion in this study includes the following conditions: original cyst didn’t eliminate completely or the cyst reappeared in the original site, or cysts appeared in other sites of the tarsus during the follow-up time. The recurrence rate of chalazion was compared between the two groups.Results The recurrence rate of the chalazion curettage combined with the Meibomian glands squeezing group was significantly lower than that of the chalazion curettage group and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion For children with chalazion, chalazion curettage combined with the Meibomian glands squeezing can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of chalazion.It is worthy of clinical promotion.
