Effects of total flavonoids of Gynura formosana Kitam on the proliferation and apoptosis of the human multiple myeloma cell line U266 |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effects of total flavonoids of Gynura formosana Kitam (TFG) on the growth,proliferation and apoptosis of the human multiple myeloma cell line U266.Methods The proliferations of the cells were detected by MTT.Observation was conducted on morphological change and apoptosis of U266 cells treated with for TFG 24h by inverted microscope and fluorescence microscope.The cell cycle and cell apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry.Results The MTT assay detected that TFG had dose and time dependent effects on the proliferation inhibition of U266,P<0.05.The apoptosis rates of U266 cells treated with TFG of 100ug/ml increased significantly.The U266 cell cycle stayed in S phase.Conclusion TFG could inhibit the proliferation of U266,which may be related to cell cycle capture and induction of apoptosis.
